Great gate for tricky places December 29, 2006 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This gate is exactly what you see -- nothing more nothing less. It's an excellent and sturdy gate that can be installed in places where other gates won't work. It was tricky to install but I would attribute that more to the fact that we were installing it in a place with a very challenging angle (diagonally across the hall at the top of the stairs)than to anything about the gate itself. This was the only gate we could find that would do the trick and I feel very secure that my little one is safe.
I Love This Gate!!!! March 28, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This baby gate is great!!! the top of my stairs both walls going in 2 different angles and i am so glad that i found this gate! it works great and i havn't had any problams with it at all. I installed it as soon as i got it. and i didnt seem to have any problams installing it. I have a 2 yr old and all moms and dads out there know how 2 yr olds can be at trying out new things! it is a tall gate so he cant lean over it and fall. all the bars on it are vertical so he cant climb it. and the lock on it is easy to use but he cant unlock it. The gate is made out of metal and is welded together so you dont have to worry about the bars coming out like you do with the wooden gates. I highly recomend this gate for any room any doorway and its great at the top of the stairs!
Great solution for tricky gate setups August 26, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
While I would agree that installation is a bit tricky and takes some time (I'd recommend giving yourself two interruption-free hours), the end result works really well. I did a fair amount of research into the three challenges we were faced with at the bottom of our stairs - baseboards, a banister and an angled installation - and this solved all three problems nicely. Nice, sturdy and easy to operate. I really like the way the latch works on this one too - once properly closed, it seems very secure. We actually just bought a second one of these for the top of our stairs to replace another gate on which the "locking" mechanism had broken and which our 16-month old was able to open - even when it was in good working condition. It's a bit on the pricey side but well worth it if you have a tricky setup like we did. Has extensions on both sides to deal with baseboards. All in all, very pleased!
Sturdy versatile gate November 11, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
As others have written, this is not the easiest gate in the world to install. However, if you are reasonably mechanical and proceed with care, once installed it is a superb gate. Anchored at all four corners and made of steel, it hardly budges when pushed hard by an adult, much less a child. Plus the gate is unclimable, unlike many others which have horizontal pieces. It is easy to open and close, and perhaps most importantly, was the only gate that would fit our particular space. Why Kidco cannot offer a better set of assembly instructions is a mystery--surely the small amount they save in cheaping out here is not worth the frustration of many potential repeat customers? My advice is to read the directions very carefully, compare the parts closely to the illustrations, and proceed with much deliberate care. If you or someone you know is not handy, this is not the gate for you!
Excellent Gate!! April 11, 2008 I am very impressed with this gate. It is very durable! I have two older children who slam this and climb on it and it still holds up to keep the baby safe from the stairs. The installation directions were very sketchy but I have a carpenter in the family so we were able to install it okay. We did have to read the directions several times to understand. It latches tight every time! I would definetely recommend this gate for stairway safety!!
