Love it! May 27, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We have banisters on both sides of our stairway and this adapter works perfectly. I did not want to drill into my banisters so this did the trick. I have a pressure and hardware mounted gate using these adapters and both work wonderfully. We did have to buy shorter screws for the hardware mounted gate because the wood on the adapter in not real thick, but that was no big deal. Highly recommend.
No Drill Holes May 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This device allows for the gate to be drilled right into the wood and not my banister. My staircase is a double stairway with 6 banisters, no walls. I did not want to use a pressure gate as I heard pressure gates will make your banisters loose over time. I also bought the motion activated light gate which works great!!! the only thing is I had to buy different screws as the ones that came with the gate was too long. FYI, if you have two banisters you MUST buy two of these. There is only one adapter per package. I purchased 6 of these.
Great to protect your stairway posts September 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought these adapters because our stairways have those beautiful posts and we didn't want to drill into them. They work very well and have been very sturdy. We haven't had to adjust them at all, even as my kids have pushed and pulled on the gate... I think they're pricey, especially since we need 6 of them, but they definitely serve their purpose!
Works for top of stairs banisters August 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wouldn't be able to mount a gate on the top of my stairs without this. I did have to drill holes in the wall adjacent to the banister to mount the particular gate I got to go with it. It can be shaken by a strong child a bit to make it a little off center. I was worried at first that the attachment is only velcro, and as baby gets bigger might figure out how to unvelcro it, but I read another type of adapter that uses plastic locking ties, so when that becomes an issue, we'll reinforce it with plastic ties (the kind you see on inmates to shackle them, can only be released by cutting)/
