5 out of 5 stars Excellent Magazine For Cat Lovers   May 23, 2004
12 out of 12 found this review helpful

'Cat Fancy' is the best mass market cat magazine in print. It provides excellent information for cat owners and prospective cat owners on the mysteries of our feline companions. There are monthly articles on health issues and diseases, question and answer with vets and other experts, stories on animal rescuers, and extensive reader mail. Additionally there is a monthly article profiling a certain breed, and numerous photos (including the centerfold photo) of that breed. I appreciate their coverage of purebreds, but I am glad that the magazine does not dwell exclusively on them.

As a side note, it is much cheaper to subscribe to 'Cat Fancy' through Amazon than any other way that I can recall. At this price it's a steal, but it's a bargain at any price for a cat person.

5 out of 5 stars Purrrfectly Great Magazine   September 30, 2002

I really can't say enough about this magazine. It's filled with so many informative articles and helpful hints on cats. The topics range from feline eating habits and social skills to current cat diseases and illnesses. Each month the magazine highlights a specific cat breed and discusses it's origin and breed characteristics. There is even a pull-out cat poster for younger readers to collect. Speaking of younger readers, this magazine is VERY kid friendly also. One of the interesting features of the magazine is the art submission page. Young cat owners can submit thier own hand drawn pictures of their cats for all to see. Adults will love the community volunteer sections also where loving people who care for homeless cats have thier good deeds printed, along with the addresses you can donate money to help the Good Samaritans in continuing their work. The issue review page is also interesting as people can write in their thoughts on previous issues and articles. Celebrities even get into the act in the last section of the magazine as Hollywood cats and their owners are highlighted. You can even order rare and specific breeds in the Classified section. All in all I highly recommend subscribing to this magazine. If you're a cat lover, you can't go wrong with Cat Fancy.

5 out of 5 stars Extra Help for Cat Owners   February 5, 2003

I purchased this magazine subscription when I brought home my third kitty, a Persian. I had owned long haired cats many times but never a Persian. I needed advice on grooming a long haired and possible health concerns of this breed. This magazine is fantastic...filled with pointers on health, grooming, nurtrition, behavior, it features a specific breed every month (with poster that my daughter loved) It has heart warming stories about real pet owners and their pets. At the end of the magazine their is classifieds for many new cat products, breeds and information on cat shows around the country. I enjoy mine so much and find them so helpful, I save them for future reference.

5 out of 5 stars My Cat Fancies Cat Fancy   January 17, 2004

If you look at my public name, you will notice that it is Selena and Sylvester. I'm Selena and Sylvester is my orange tabby kitty.

I don't subscribe to Cat Fancy, but I read it a lot and check it out from the library. It is a very interesting cat magazine.

Cat Fancy has a lot of cool cat stuff that Sylvester really loves. We got him a Sherpa traveling bag we saw in Cat Fancy. We got him a "window seat" that we saw in Cat Fancy and he spends hours at a time sitting in it and looking at the traffic and birds and people outside, because he's declawed (the poor little kitty) and so we don't let him out and looking out a window is as close as he gets to the outside world.

Cat Fancy also explains a lot about cat behaviors and medical issues. It gives info on animal shelters that help make a difference to stray and feral cats. And it has a great breeder directory and list of upcoming cat shows.

Good things about Cat Fancy:
>> Explains how cats think and behave
>> Has interesting cat products such as scrathing posts, window seats, outdoor runs, cat doors. . .
>> Contains a long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long breeder directory (which is good)
>> Tells about common medical problems and how to take care of them
>> What isn't good in Cat Fancy?

Bad things about Cat Fancy:
>>
>>
>> I don't think there is any. . .

5 out of 5 stars Great for Finding the Right Cat   January 18, 2008

I got this subscription when I was trying to figure out if a cat would be the right pet for me.
There's so many breeds of cats, all with different personalities and patterns and appearances.
I've gotten five issues and still can't decide what type of cat I should get.
Each issue highlights a specific breed...Siamese,Ragdolls,Scottish Fold,Persian,Russian Blue.
So far I like the ragdoll because they're so docile they'll just flop in your arms and also the persian because they're laid back, but I haven't made up my mind.
This magazine doesn't include alley cats, or cats you'd find in a pund or rescue.
I enjoy the photos of the cats and I like the articles too.
I would recommend this to anyone before buying or rescuing a cat and also to people who just admire cats.
